Dear members of Irvine Camera Club,

North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who so kindly gave permission for their artwork to be shared in Anam Cara, our specialist dementia respite centre in Kilbirnie.

The centre finally reopened to guests late last week, and we’ve already had so many positive comments about the photographs. They have made the perfect finishing touch to the newly upgraded facility and will make a real difference to the stay of people with dementia, helping them to recall happy memories of familiar places and creating talking points for staff and guests alike.

We have installed a plaque at reception to let visitors and their families know where the images came from, and each photo has a small plaque next to it with the name of the image and crediting the photographer, along with the year it was taken.

You can see some of the images in this short video on our YouTube page. Unfortunately we were unable to use them all due to space and image size, but after a shortlisting process and final approval from the management team at Anam Cara, the full list of the images chosen was as follows:

We have mentioned the camera club in all of our press around the re-opening of the facility, and whether your image was used or not we would like you to know that we very much appreciate your kindness in sharing these with us. The benefits these images will bring to members of our communities with dementia cannot be overestimated.

Many thanks again from all at NAHSCP.
